I did have an old Hornady manual about 30 years ago that listed 4320 for .45-70. I had started out with a Siamese Mauser conversion in .45-70 using a load of IMR 4227 from the same book for 500 gr. bullets. 4198 is a common accepted "Standard" powder. 45/70 has plenty of latitude in loads, but I don't know I'd run anything with H335. That's pretty stout for a lever gun. The original Trapdoor Carbine load with a hollow base 405 bullet was with 53 grains of FFFG, powder compression to get an OAL of 2.42 inches and a good crimp. Digging in my 45-70 data I found some testing I did with 600gr jacketed bullets in my NEF 45-70. These bullets were made using my Hybrid method and used 30-06 cases as the jacket. The bullets were 1.55" long, and were bore riding starting .600" from the base to the ogive. They were seated .500" deep, oal 3.15".Since H335 is kind of on the slow side for the 45-70, it tends to work progressively better as you increase boolit weight.
